Penna has been teaching dance for the last 35 years. She has spent the last 10 years using her various skills in the arts to teach children to read. She currently works for Play In A Book in Chicago, a program that uses the techniques and practices of drama to support students Kindergarten through 5th grade in reading. Penna has studied with amazing artists such as Nana Shineflug, Alison Knowles, Meridith Monk and Liz Lerman. Her passion is using the arts in an interdisciplinary way in teaching and performing. Penna holds a BFA in dance from Rockford College and a MA in interdisciplinary arts from Columbia College Chicago.
